Hello and welcome.
I have created this
site for informative purposes due to
the increasing demand from
pilots around the globe, for
information about paragliding in Cyprus.
Thirteen years ago, when I started flying paragliders, I wrote at
this welcome message
"...Cyprus is not yet a paragliding “heaven” but many visiting
pilots have very good reasons why they want to come and fly in Cyprus.
There are not many places in the world where in 30-60 minutes drive you can swim, windsurfing scuba dive, fly or snow
ski in the same day .
Oh,
I forgot to mention the more than 300 sunny days a year.Different
place, different conditions, different weather, different people...."
Today, we
rediscovered paragliding in Cyprus
and the above statement is not valid. We found places for the experienced
pilots, with very good take off and landing skills in the mountains of Cyprus that
we fly now cross country flights in the range of 15, 20 30, 40 and even 60 kilometres .These places are thermic
sites and we recommend to fly only with a local experienced pilot. If not,
get an advice from the local pilots were you can fly safely. There is a
local flying community and a paragliding and hanggliding club.
So welcome to Cyprus and enjoy safe flights in the island of
Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of
love.

Panayia-Paphos
Another thermal flying site has been established,
at Panayia -Paphos. look for details at the site guide table and at the
photos below
 .
The site is just
before the Panayia Chrysorrogiatissa
monastery and we cleaned it (Nicos AndrosCdhris and Demetris).
We got about 400m above take off and top landed. A promising xcountry site .We will keep you informed.

The last months we discovered xcountry
paragliding in Cyprus.
The best flights
ever done in Cyprus
untill today, have their start from Kalo Chorio-Zoopigi on an
East direction .
Flights along the Arakapas - Ora valley from Kalo chorio village are common now provided that you
can gain altitute over 1500 meters
asl ,with westerly winds.personally I managed to cover up to 23 km, Chris.
37km, Manolis the same and Demetris
57 were he landed

A NEW SITE IS
BORN- AYIA MARINA
A new site is
found. I have flown it today for first time ever. The new site is only 15
minutes from Larnaca. It is situated on a long
ridge (altitude 350m asl
- top to bottom is about 100 meters) North of Larnaca
between the village Avdellero and Athienou. You can drive to Aradippou
junction and then take the road to Ayia Napa.
Just after a couple of kilometres take the exit
to Avdellero village and Athienou
and turn left. Follow the road to Athienou and
just in the middle of the distance between the two villages there is a bridge. Just before the bridge there
is a sign for Ayia Marina church, on your left.
Follow the signs and after about 10 minutes of a dirty track you are on the
top of a long ridge of about 1.5 - 2 kilometres long. The top of the hill is flat and
suitable for top landing. Flying, could be dynamic
soaring or thermaling as you can take enough
height. The site is about 15 kilometers from the sea. Have a look on the pictures below. Larnaca
is on the ba ckground.
